Matt 22-23

My sharing: The seven woes to the Pharisees reminds me a conversation I have with an unbeliever. He is bitter about Christians and he tells his story. He have 2 classmates in school who are fervent Christians. They attend church regularly and give out Christian literature to strangers. However, they also copied my friend’s homework assignment in school! When I heard this incident, I felt shameful because “we do not practice what we preach.” Let’s remember the weightier matters of the law is justice and mercy and faithfulness. Why would we sometime do things that are against God’s law? Because we love our well being more than God’s name. Let us press on so that we will “love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.”

In the metaphor of the banquet, the king has prepared everything. However, no one shows up. v.1-5. More unusual is the guests who beat up the servant and kill them v.6. No one who ever host a banquet will face this situation. This is outrageous v.7. Have you ever thought about this: this is exactly what Jesus felt at that time. This is how He felt about the rejection. When we sin against God we think He has no feelings. No, look at today's passage!
