The key for a fruitful Christian is to remain in Christ because we cannot bear any fruit apart from Christ. But how do you know you remain in Christ? The first test is v. 7 - "my words remain in you." The 2nd test is our prayer will be granted. 1 John 5:14 says, "if we ask anything according to his will he hears us." When God's word remain in you, you will know God's will and will ask accordingly.
Now, how can we remain in Christ? By remaining in His love. That is by obeying Jesus' commands. What commands are we talking about? The command - Love each other as I have loved you. We always think obeying Christ is a tough choice. But v. 11 tells us it is the most joyous thing because Jesus becomes our friend. We know we remain in Christ if we love others and if our life is full of joy.

(1) He has also obeyed the command of the Father when He asked us to obey His v.10.
(2) When He talked about love one another He has done it to the greatest extent-He dies for us v.13.
Christianity is not something about theory. It is very practical. We should also put our belief into practice!
