Acts 3-4

Acts records a transitional period changing from the kingdom to the church. However, this change is a gradual change instead of a sudden change. In Acts 3, Peter reoffered the kingdom to the Jews (v. 19-20). However, the Jewish leaders continued to reject God’s offer (Acts 4).

My Sharing: These 2 chapters reminds me Matt 10. When Jesus sent them out to preach, Jesus predicted they will be persecuted but they don’t have to worry about what to say. In Acts 3-4, it is a fulfillment of Matt 10. They were in troubles but they were also under God’s protection.

I agree with Mike the disciples are very courageous. They do not blame God for the persecution. Instead they know everything is under His control v.23-28. All the things happen are predicted in the OT. God knows this will happen. Therefore the disciples are confident. This reminds me that no matter what happens to me God is in control. If I have this in mind I can have the confident like the disciples.
The other group of people I notice is the religious leaders. Both the leaders and the people have taken part in sending Jesus to the crucifixion v.17. However, the people repents 4:4, but the leaders only think about how to shut up the disciples 5:13-17. This reminds me that when I am wrong I need to face it and have to courage to admit that instead of covering it up.
