This psalm is about the world view of Moses. God is our dwelling place v.1. In other words, we live in His universe. The psalmist view everything from God's prespective. He uses a lot of "you" in this passage. "You turn men..." v.3, "in your sight..." v.4, "You sweep men away..." v.5, etc. What does it do to us? We shall tremble because of our sins in all the days in our lives v.7-11. We waste a lot of time. V. 12 is the turning point, the psalmist asks God how to spend the days v.12. Man can only see gladness when they see God v.14-16. Our works can only be established when it is established by God v.17.
Many people can be busy but what are they busy about? "The length of our days is seventy years—or eighty, if we have the strength; yet their span is but trouble and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away v.10." Are we busy at something that only bring us trouble and sorrow? We may not agree that what they are doing is only trouble and sorrow, but when we face God we will regret.
