Eph. 5:6-17

How can I control my tongue v.6-7? (1) "Live as children of light" v.8b. We are children of light v.8a, now live as what we are. Therefore the book of Ephesians is written in 2 parts: the 1st 3 chapters about salvation and the 2nd half about the sanctification. Christian living is based on the salvation. We cannot do it if we are not saved. (2) "Find out what pleases the Lord" v.10. Sometimes we sin not because we do not know it is wrong, but we love to do it. When we are motivated by our salvation we want to pleases the Lord. We are children of God and thus we want to please Him with what we do.
Light and darkness is mutual exclusive. When we do the things of light (goodness, righteousness and truth v.9) we will expose people who are in darkness (shameful, disobedient, dead v.12-14). Therefore, in v.15 Paul says we should live careful. Our time is very precious. When we live we share this message with those around us, namely, "what is light." What is the "most" in v.16, "making the most of every opportunity?" Let people know what the children of light looks like, because we live in a evil time v.16.
Pray for our witness in the work place today. Pray for those who will have contact with us today. Pray for ourselves to live as the children of light and find out what pleases the Lord.
