This passage has a very complicated structure. The reason is the whole passage is one sentence in the original language.
The blessings mentioned in v.3 is not anything else but the election of Jesus Christ v.4. All the blessings mentioned later, e.g. the holiness, blamelessness (v.4), the sonship (v.5), and the redemption (v.7) are the result of the election. When I see the word "blessings," I relate to some tangible treasures or privileges. No. This is a reflections of my value. The greatest blessings is my election! I can be a part of the family of God. This is the most valuable thing in the world.
Second, the whole passage seems to tell me how blessed I am. However, there is one command for me in v.12: " in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory." My license plate is GTX 500. One day I think I should Give Thanks to the Lord 500 times a day! His plan to lavish His grace upon me is so wonderful v.8. He thinks of a perfect plan for a sinner like me to be part of His plan. That takes a lot of wisdom and understanding.
