John 11:21-35
Why did Jesus cry? He just told an unconventional message to Martha v.23, and 25-26. Her brother and all the believers will be resurrected! He recognizes that men will die v.25 but another force which is greater will bring them back to live. And they remain as resurrected and never die again v.26. I don't think Martha really get what Jesus said. If He is the one who can really do that in the future He can do it now! He is not only the Lord of the future. (look at v.29 Martha does not really believe what Jesus promise in v.23). We do the same, too. We think what the Bible said is so distant. Those Scriptures only deal with live in eternity and has nothing to do with our lives. No, God can do what He will do in the future also in today!
Now, why Jesus cry? He knows He can resurrected in the future and also today. The Bible said, "he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled" when he saw people cried. When we are sad and cry we are not alone. God is a compassion God. He feels our pain and He will be troubled by our sadness. Men can moved Jesus because He loves us!
