Sorry, yesterday I slept most of the day because of the jetlag and miss the chance to write the blog.
1 Sam 1:9-18
Hannah's bitterness is repeated in v.10, 11, 15, and 16. It is due to the fact that she does not have a son and her husband's concubine always gives her a hard time v.6. Therefore she gives a vow that when she has a son she will give him up to God ("no razor will ever be used on his head" means making a vow to God that this son will belongs to God). This is the introduction to the book of Samuel who is an important prophet of God. At that time, women without a son is a big shame and therefore she is willing to give such a vow. However, her grief was so obvious that even the priset misunderstood her v. 14. The main point here is she change instantly v.18! Why? She takes the word of the priest in v.17. Two days in a row we read about the grief of women (Hagai in Genesis and here). Both of them show immediate changes after they hear the Word of God. They show the sign of FAITH. Do you believe in God's word? Will you be relief when God give you the comfort words? Will you keep worrying about the fulfillment of His promise? Will you get up from your down mood and keep going?
