3-10

Rom. 6:11-23
From v.11-13, Paul gives 3 command for believers to deal with sin.
1. Consider yourself in a new way v.11;
2. Do not let sin reign (in other words, sin really want to reign in you) v.12;
3. Do not go on presenting your body as instrument of sin (in other words, you have done this before, but do not go on to that) v.13.
Then he explains #1 in v.14-15 (and v.1-10), #2 in v.16-18, #3 in v.19-20.
How do we see ourselves is important. The "Daily bread" has a good illustration today. Satan has a secret that he does not want us to know. He is no longer our master! Christians will be slave to him only under our own false views. Imagine you are a slave 100 years ago in America. The civil war is over and you are free to go. However, your old boss still act like your boss and ask you to do all your works before. What do you think? Maybe some of the old slaves who never heard about the good news are willing to do that. For us who read the Bible and know that we are free will not want to do that. Sin has a controlling power but not over us anymore! Note the pass tense from v.17 on. We have already pass that line. We were the slaves to sin before but now we
have a new master!
