I was out of town and without internet access in the last 2 days. Sorry for missing the sharing.
Phil 1:21-27
To Paul, the two most important thing in his life is Christ (v.21) and the Gospel (v.27). He rather dies and be with Christ (v.23). However, to live he can help others (v.24). More specifically, he can help them in their faith (v.25). Paul was in the prison when he wrote this letter, and he cannot go to visit the church in his convience. Therefore, in v.27 he says whether or not he come, he has an expectation for them. "Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ." How? "You are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel." In other words, the Gospel is the focus, the center of attention to the church. It is so vital to all of us that we put away any thing that will hinder us from "one spirit." That is the manner of our life. Not only we being witness to the Gospel like the "Daily bread" says, but also our unity in doing this. Also, we need to strive for the Gospel. Do I take my Gospel for granted and never pay attention to it? Am I treasure my salvation? Do I have a thankful heart to the Lord for my salvation? Lastly, do I strive to share the Gospel to others? When I face opposition in sharing the gospel do I give up too easily?
