1-5

Gen. 15:1-6
In these 6 verses, the first 3 is like a downhill experience, the last 3 is uphill. First, Abraham complains that God's promise has no building block (as the daily bread said). He questions the validity of the promise. On one hand, he called God the Soverign God (v.2). On the other hand, he questions His promise. He has to find someone else to be his heir because "You have given me no child (v.3)." The problem of no building block is the lack of provision of God! Abraham sure believe that God can give Him a child if He will like to, but he thinks God choose not to do it.
Am I like Abraham, questioning the goodness of God? I do think that He can, but does He really mean what He said? He said He will guide my future, does He really care?
In v.4-6, God build up the faith of Abraham. He first denies his plan, and make His promise more precise (v.4). He will have a biological son. Then He directs Abraham's eye to the stars. What do I look at when I doubt the promise of God? Am I looking at His soverignity? Or am I looking at the limitation of man? The one who makes the heaven and the stars are the one who gives me promise? What shall I fear?
