Col 3:1-7
The key to this passage is the resurrection with Christ (v.1). When we are raise with Him, our focus is not ourselves (2:23). We set our hearts on where He is (v.2). What else do we set our hearts on? Maybe my family, my work, etc. How do I do when I set my heart on something? Maybe we think about it all day. We make decision base on these things. Do I do the same to Jesus?
We will set our hearts on somethings, but always on the wrong objects (v.2b). Things on earth represent not only things on the planet earth, but all the worldly or sinful things (v.5). Setting our hearts on those things are riduculous because we've died to those things already (v.3). Second, God's wrath comes upon the rebellious people (v.6). We were like that (v.7), but things have changed now and not appropiate now. What we see good for us in 2006 may not be good for 2007, e.g. your old calender. Also, there is some lifestyle which we think is OK before, but now they are not fitted anymore.
