Exo. 15:22-27
Before the Israelites leave Egypt God has preformed 10 plagues (Exo. 7-11). Then God splits the Red Sea so that the Israelites escape from the chasing of the Egyptian army. That is the background for today messages. I agree with the "Daily bread" that God has planned this for the Israelites to learn how to rely on Him. Also from v.26 God has mentioned about the diseases in Egypt. I think these may refer to the 10 plagues and other calamities. The lack of water experience (v.22-24) probably have reminded them about the anger of God to the Egyptians. Why are they as a people will experience calamities in lives? Do I always ask this question? Why do bad things to me? Yes, bad things happen to the unsaved person, as well as for Christians! When bad things happen does not mean we have lost favor in the eyes of God, or God does not love us anymore. When we try to sell our house, we found that we have to lost at least 10K. We lose money just as anyone else who try to sell their house in this market. God allows this happen to us not because He does not love me or He cannot help me. He is powerful in the 10 plagues and in this instance (v.25). What we need to do is to stay in His will. For the Israelites it mean to obey the law (v.26), for us is to live a life of faith.
