1 Cor. 15:12-20
The church of Corinth has accepted a false doctrine and does not realize the significance of it. If resurrection is impossible then (1) Christ has not been resurrected (v.13), (2) our faith is in vain because we are still in sin (v.17), (3) God is lying (v.15). We live in a false hope and deceiving ourselves and thus are pitied more than others (v.19).
This is not a uncommon phenomenon within the liberal circle of Christianity. They deny all the miracles including resurrection. They study the Bible in a very different manner than us. They are pitied than others. Be careful for these liberal "Christians." Normally you can find them in the theology department of the state university, some of the Lutheran seminaries and others.
Sometimes we may not realize the significances of false doctrine like the Corinth church. Shall we accept everyone, including those who practice homosexuality. If we accept that then the Bible is a lie, because it says the homosexuality is a sin! They need to repent just like anyone who sins. Sinful people do not acceptance they need repentance.

Hi Audrey....could you provide more details about the church of Corinth's doctrine and what was bad about it? It will help me understand more about the context of this text. Thanks and keep up the great work....it's very helpful.

1 Cor. 15:12 says, "But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead?" In other words, they think there is no resurrection of the dead. However, Paul reminds them, if there is no resurrection, then Christ's resurrection is also a lie. It seems to ask them, have you think through it when you accept the no-resurrection theory is correct?! This is similar to those who says miracle is impossible. However, today, people is more open to say they actually do not believe in Jesus Christ. Strangly, they still call themselves "Christians."
