Before I share about today passage, I want to share how I apply the passage from yesterday. I went shopping yesterday night and did not feel very good about it. I brought a sweater last week and I found that they cut the price even lower yesterday. Therefore I asked for the refund and have the discount credit to me. They refused! I am very upset for just $4! And I was so caught up with it that I lost my could be joyous evening. When my eyes were caught on this world, I lost my eternity perspective.
Ps 46
This passage is clearly divided into 3 parts (v.1-3, 4-7, 8-11). Each part or stanza ends with the word "Selah," which is musical phrase. The first part is about the past or the creation. God is our refuge in natural diaster. Imagine you are in the Tsumani 2 years ago and God is still your refuge at that time. The second part is about the present or the threatening of war in the present. God is not only soverign but He dwells among them and being their refuge. Imagine yourself in the movie of "The lord of the ring" and your castle is under attack. The last part is about the future when all the wars are over. The Lord reigns over all the nations.
Two words have special meaning to me: "Ever present help" (v.1) and "Be still" (v.10). May his words guide my day.
