On one hand, the warning of destruction is given to many nations, including Egypt. On the other hand, the warning of Egypt is unique. In a sense Egypt is always whom the king of Israel rely on for military help. When Ezekiel was the propet Israel is still not totally wipe out yet. Some people may still have some false hope. God took that away definitely (29:17-20). Are we relying on some false hope? Christmas is coming, do I take this time to remember the source of my real hope, i.e., Jesus Christ. Or I think my academic success, work ability, money or friends will give me hope?
The arrogant of Egypt is hard to miss (29:3, 9, 31:10). She forgets who made her and gave her the resources (31:1-7 the tree flourish because of the waters run through it). Do I give thanks to God for the good He has given me? Or I am so secure of myself and think all my success are due to my own effort?
