Micah 3-5
In ch4-5, Micah talks about the future Millennium. The passage in 4:1-8 is very silimar to Isaiah 2, who is the contemporary prophet. They both see the light from that dark period of time. Even the leaders and the prophets do no serve God, but their own belly. However, the work of God does not depend on them. One day, God will establish His own kingdom and last forever. When we serve God and violate His rule, He will take us away. He does not depend on us. He can directly rule over His sheep. If we disqualified we will no longer have that priviledge to serve Him anymore.
In the future, Israel will be the strongest in the milliatry power. They will crush all the other nations (4:13, 5:8-9). However, they are strong not because of their own power (5:10-11), but by the power of God (5:2-6). More specifically, they will be strong because of Jesus. He is their shepherd. The sheep will live in peace (5:4-5). This is a picture of protection. When they are alarmed by the rise of Assyria, they find peace in this prophecy. What gives us unstablity today? Can we still find peace in God?
